Needed Strategies to Negate a Poisoned Challis: Arsenic Mitigation in Bangladesh

Abstract

This paper reintroduces to South Asia and the world to the still-existing arsenic contamination of potable water in Bangladesh where millions are suffering. This problem is not only limited to Bangladesh but affects regions of Nepal and West Bengal India. The discussion introduces the cause and magnitude based on present-day scenarios and proposes mitigation strategies based on past experiences of over twenty years mitigating this public health crisis. The arching objective is to save lives from chronic arsenic poisoning and its adverse health effects keeping in mind the on-ground scenario and resource limitation. This article is in search towards a sustainable arsenic mitigation solution for Bangladesh and South Asia.
